Andrea loves patterns and colours in nature, textiles and art. Working with glass and with polymer clay, allows her to create jewellery, functional and decorative pieces in a wonderful array of colours and patterns. Andrea is largely self taught and she continues to develop her skills and knowledge through trial and error along with the help and generosity of spirit of other artists.
Art is Andrea’s soul food. It gives her the opportunity to create, relax, dream and explore. Andrea gets much joy making, giving away and selling her work and loves seeing pieces going to good homes.
In 2009 Andrea was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for 2009/10 in order to work on a project involving kiln fired glass and youth at risk here in the NT. The award will take Andrea overseas to the US, Alaska, Italy and Germany in order to participate in some advanced kiln fired glass technique workshops and to learn about ways of involving troubled youth in creative pursuits to reconnect them to the community.
