Gratitude

Back home from a 3500km road trip, with my sister, through Poland. Gratitude for being able to experience something like that but also for seeing what a great life I am able to have because our parents fled East Germany when I was only a baby.

We drove to Frankfurt and der Oder which is my birth town and sits right on the Oder river which is the border between ex East Germany and Poland. A very depressed town. Huge streets with few cars and few people, broken down buildings and sad looking people. Although we did find a few beautiful old buildings. The main bridge in town can (at the moment) only be walked across into Slubice (Poland) so that is what we did.

About my blog

I am a planner, list maker, organiser and worrywart but for the first time ever I am throwing myself out into the universe without a job, but with ideas, optimism and support from family and friends. I am leaving the loving embrace of my beautiful children, the familiar, the known and the comfortable after 37 years of life in the Northern Territory.  A new segment of my life is about to begin. I know where it starts but not how it will unfold. This blog will be my companion, listener and memory keeper of this journey.
